The MEDOCS Billing and Computer Solution
The MEDOCS billing system was initially selected by the San Mateo Medical
Clinic for its own use after an extensive search. The software vendor,
Management Consulting Company (MCC), was acquired in the early 1980's by
Radiological Associated of Sacramento. Radiological Associated is a MEDOCS
user themselves and then continue to own and aggressively invest in the
development of the software.
MCC employs a highly capable staff of experienced programming and
application professionals to keep MEDOCS up to date and to service their
installed user base throughout the Western U.S. PMSI has contractual
priority access to MCC staff. This feature provides backup technical
capability to PMSI staff, as well as automatic software updates. The latter
are provided approximately once each year, along with appropriate training.
The original reason for the service bureau concept was to share hardware
costs. Today, the reason to use a service bureau is to share rapidly
changing applications, and, perhaps most importantly, the expertise to use
it. In other words, a service bureau concept protects against obsolescence,
both hardware and software.
In addition, clients have no need to employ their own management information
professional nor do they have to face "re-purchasing" either hardware or
software again in 3-5 years.
